Gorgeous Deepa:)
ReplyDeleteSuperb....what is the difference between a tanjore painting and a kerala mural ??
ReplyDeleteStunning and beautifully done , Deepa.
ReplyDeleteWow.. that was beautiful.. hats off to those wonderful hands that did the magic..
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Rajesh, Saru, Kala, Sarmistha and KP...Your words inspire me:)
ReplyDelete@The mind,In Tanjore paintings there are both murals(wall paintings) and one done on canvas, glass, mica, wood etc. They are mostly religious in theme, divine in nature. Murals are done with traditional materials for colours like limestone, yellow oxide, tamarind twig etc. Hence the colours are limited as well - green, blue, red, yellow, white, black. The ones done on canvas and other materials are done with relief work ie using gold leaf, gems, stones etc. They are very expensive.
What I have done here is Kerala Mural painting which is from a different school of art hence different in style but they are also religious in theme. Here, only five colours, panchavarna, is used - Red, blue, green, yellow, white and black.
Hope this will help you understand the difference better (from my limited knowledge)
Hope to see you more often:)
