Trip to Musandum

We drove through the panoramic coastal view, overlooking the Gulf of Arabia and the Straits of Hormuz and finally reached the small fishing village of Al Khasab. One can hire a dhow for a whole day or for few hours. Our trip was decided on a very short notice and so we had to be satisfied with 'brunch' from Texas Chicken , snacks from Lulu and Enoc Petrol station on our way. Some tour packages provide food as well...It's always better to book in advance.
This Eid break we made our first trip to Musandum, Al Khasab in Oman. The kids were the most excited. We were three families and we had the most exciting of times. It's around 4 hours from Sharjah. Entry and Exit stamping consumed one and half hours at Al Dara Border.

The vague outline of the mountains became visible gradually and it was a treat to watch.

Ras Al Khaimah (RAK-one of the Emirate of U.A.E) industrial area, RAK Cement Factory, a villa under construction and the small park/beach where we had our lunch.

Love this beach view...couldnot spend much time here, would go back there sometime:)

The patterns and designs on the rocks were pretty interesting. Loads of formations...My friend said that she had heard that these formations were caused by the water which has now, obviously, receded. I was in awe when I looked at those mountains which were once immersed in water. Is that true??? I have no idea!

We were extremely lucky to get a dhow on rent for a two hour ride as we were the last to get one. They don't rent boats after 3:00pm it seems. The tour boy, Rajeev, was of great help to get one. If anyone is planning on a trip to Musandum, you could contact him. Mail me and I send you the number and details.
One could even  engage in fishing, swimming, snorkelling and diving.

And God, we were lucky to find the dolphins. But I must say it's not very pleasant for the dolphins I suppose:(  Constant motor sounds and turbulence in the water, in their direction must be a great disturbance for them. Entirely my view...

Must Haves: Passport, Camera and a Hat...if you are particular abour your skin, take your sunscreen too.

Thanks for reading.
Have a Fantastic Day, Friends!
