There were days when I used to engage in artistic activities when I feel inspired...now-a-days, since the past two years I have been creating art almost daily...it has become a necessity; unless and until I am sick or something. It is a part of me I can not separate and I enjoy it a great deal. Also I wish to know and learn more...a sort of craving, a yearning...about art, artists anything and everything related to art from nooks and corners of every bit of the world. I just can't stop feeling it! What interests you? Does this strike a chord with you???
Goddess Lakshmi - SOLD
Mural style, 6x4 inches, clipped glass frame
Now, this little painting adorns the puja (Prayer) space of one of my friends, Sheeba Aji in Dubai and that really makes my heart levitate just thinking about it. It's a form of constant blessing!!! Thanks Sheeba :)
Linking it to Paint Party Friday, Show and Tell Saturday and The Weekly Story...more art and artists with some amazing stuff can be found there :)

Deepa, this painting is absolutely beautiful! I'm not only in love with it, but I'm in awe of it and the artist who created it and expressed the goddess so beautifully - you!
ReplyDeleteAre those glass beads or cabochons that you adorned Lakshmi with? I use beads and gems in my mandalas and a few landscape paintings every now and a gain, and it really adds something to the overall painting and the colours, I find.
As for your yearning to find out and learn everything and anything that is art or creativity related, yes - what you've written resonates deeply with me and within me. I go to our local library and want to read every single book on art or craft and artists' biographies and art history and craft techniques and...the list goes on and on and on.
Have you read Robert Henri's wonderful and inspiring (and to an extent, quite philosophical) 'The Art Spirit'? It was recommended by another artist I am in such awe of and have such admiration for, on her blog, and after her singing the book's praises, I had to go out and get a copy for myself.
There are still so many crafts I want to learn, so many types of painting styles I want to learn and try and experiment with and play with. But, as the cliche goes, there are only but so many hours in any given day, and so we all must try to fit in as many things that bring us joy that we can to that day.
Bahut shukriya, Deepa, for this wonderful post, and for your beautiful art.
this is such a gorgeous piece!!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the detailed comment June! I am glad..and I should surely get hold of 'The Art Spirit'! Yes, even I try to grab as many books as possible. I have seen your mandalas and they are gorgeous! I have used kundan stones.

ReplyDeleteReally amazing. I think you captured the essence here beautifully. It does make the heart levitate to know that something that you created with your heart - is loved just as much or more by someone else.

ReplyDeleteThe art habit is so healthy -- good for the mind and the soul. This is such a joyful piece, I smiled when I first saw it. I find days when I work on something creative, even if it doesn't turn out well, I feel healthier and happier. I don't always do it, but when I do, it makes for a better day.

Beautiful work, and I understand your need to create daily. When I am away from my studio, I feel that same kind of pull I felt when my first child was an infant and I was away from her. Namaste.
