New Hopes, New Beginning

New year brings so much hopes for a better year than the previous one. How much ever it was bad, chaotic, disheveled it be...we always long for things to change with the arrival of a new year...I am an optimist! What are hopes and aspirations for than to realize them!!

Like many others I long for it too, hoping everything would happen for the better and many more pleasant surprises are in store, also wishing that each and every dream turns into reality adding that extra touch of phenomenal eccentricity to life :)

Even when one indulges in oneself, one shouldn't forget or ignore that which surrounds us, the beauty around us. People, environment, nature...everything is a mix - a hint of this, a tinge of that. It would also be great if people would tend and nurture that beauty rather than destroy it. I really long for those days when the newspapers would give us happy and incredible news.

If you had been following my blog you will get to know quote cards that I had been making now and then...if not, check here. This is one I made a few days back... sometime in December last year. I have it a bit photoshopped...wanted to see how it looks and I think it looks good. What do you say???

To dream is to take the first step to creating a world of one's own. There are times when one would like to be left alone without any noise or distraction or meddling with anything...save you and your loneliness (mein aur meri tanhayi as they say in Hindi) when you are the most with oneself and one enjoys one's own company! I am my Best Friend at times (when you don't have anyone else around you - of your wavelength/frequency!!!)

I have a fascination for illustrations. I also these phases

when I keep doing a genre for a period of time thenI go onto yet another and so on. This was done during theillo phase. You can see that in black and white here.

I simply wanted to color it and I had no patience and space to lay out my colours so opted to do it digitally. It was my first try with digital colouring.

JaminiRoy-Reproduction-HuesnShadesHorses are powerful, graceful and skillful creatures and I think anyone would fall in love with them...the speed, the free spirit, harnessing it's powers both for the majestic and the magical. Hope we all adopt and adapt to that spirit and power the beautiful animal possesses. Hoping that all these materialize in this fervent year!  I would like to remind you that I am a huge Jamini Roy fan and all his works are my favourites. I have done a few reproductions of his earlier in 2012. I need to do more when I get enough time. You can view my other Jamini Reproductions by clicking on the TAG Jamini Roy on the sidebar.
I have taken up new projects and wish that I can fulfill them with utmost gravity and gusto. I will reveal it, along the way, one by one.

Hope you all have an Amazing, Dreamy, Fulfilling year ahead :)

"Beauty Surrounds Us"

"Beauty surrounds us" - exactly what I feel these days! Showers have started in my hometown; am enjoying it unlike the past years when going out during the hols used to turn terrible coz of the damp cluttered and pooled roads. But this year the page has turned anew; I am in no hurry nor do I have to finish my visits or anything else for that matter apart from shopping for day to day stuff which can even be postponed (at times!!!) the beauty of watching rain through the glassed windows is something I enjoy and have visualized a lot when in Dubai. It has a misty, vague and yet a soothing feel about it. Even Krishna has started enjoying the rains...yester' she went walking in the rain with an umbrella (she had congestion) to feel the drizzle and the coolness :)

The morning song, the blue sky, the cotton clouds, the bees and birds, the flowers and trees...I can see beauty in each and everything here. I think even the paper boy with the rhythmic ringing of his cycle bell, the walking aunties with intermittent laughter, the splitter-splatter when a vehicle passes, the dangling coconuts and their intermittent fall ( which I am really scared of:)) and all nature's music is so soothing to my ears...

Acrylics
Looking through the rainy glass...tried an effect :)

The cargo arrived 3 days back with our dresses, books, my paintings and the art materials. As I am unpacking I am stumbling upon my old works which I hadn't posted before and I feel a joy, a high to see and feel it and to think of the time I created it.

Watercolor

This is from my Jamini Series which I couldn't complete and I deeply regret it!!! Albeit I still have time and I NEED to complete it soon :)

And now to Summer of Color's Artist Choice...
These are patterns paper I created just for fun....not thinking, not planning....just letting it be, it took shape on it's own... :)
The color combo for this week was citron green and turquoise.

 Digital art

That will suffice for the day!

Lady in Red

I came across a new weekly challenge - The Summer of Colour 2; Ice Cream Inspirations held by Kristin. You can find more about it here. I personally feel that it's a lovely challenge. I would like to give it a try; how about you??? Do visit the link, read it and if interested do take part...And I am sure you would be interested! The first prompt is Rainbow Sherbet, isn't it exciting?& lot of fun? I am busy creating that...

Jamini Roy has been one of my greatest inspirations for quite sometime now. I had painted the Puja Lady as I call her in blue saree a couple of months back (See the post here) and I received an order based on that. The client wanted the lady in red. So here's the beautiful lady draped in a red saree. What do think about the background? Do let me know how you find her...:)

Lady in Red, 9x12 inches, Acrylics

I will be announcing a give away soon....so stay tuned :)

Reinventing Jamini Roy

                                                   Acrylics, 9x12 inches

It's been a couple of months since I have been wishing to reproduce some of the works of One of my favourite artists, Shri Jamini Roy. He has been a great influence and his works are close to my heart. I love his simplistic and elegant style. I have tried to recreate this work, inserting in 'Me' though. Like the necklace which is partly visible in his work has been completed here. The colours too are a  variation. Eyes are definitely a deviation from his. He's unmatchable and yet I hope you like it :)

I should definitely thank Gloria of Gloria's Blog Viva La Vida for her Inspiration which finally provoked me into action. Her new year resolution finally set me going as well.

My daughter, Anoushka's (Krishna's) effort
she is 8 years old

A commendable one at that, what say? Do click here to view the complete picture. You will not regret it:)
