Women of the Desert

Sometimes one is at a loss to begin...from where should I begin! I have been unable to religiously visit my friends' blogs as I have been busy...with a show starting tomorrow, a commission work that I have to complete before I leave for Dubai in a couple of days and so many other things! I am all excited about tomorrow's show - Women of the Desert, which is happening at DIAC - Gallery 76, Dubai. I am going to miss the opening though. It is organized by the lovely Zareen Khan and team of Woman2Woman Events. I am exhibiting two of my works there. It  is something like a vision that I have transferred into canvas adding soul and spirit to it; they have woven a story of their own. It also has a mystical rhythm with symbolism that explores the spacelessness and the timelessness.

Would you like to know about the participating artists??? Just drop by here.

The illustrations below are from my last year's show which was titled 'It's All Square' and they are all square and this is just a part of the illustrations. It was held at thejamjar gallery in Dubai. You can read about it here and here.

When you work on a concept do you consciously move through it or it changes during it's course...kind of intuitive. Do you get visions? Do you transfer them to canvas too? Do you jot down those details or sketch? Would love you to share and get to know your views on it :)

Whorled Explorations 2

Kochi Muziris Biennale is around the corner of it's closing date and yet there's lot more to explore...lot to unearth and treasures lay hidden perhaps in each and every corner of Kochi, particularly Fort Kochi and Mattancherry. I would have loved to hang around more but time is always a constraint!

Art, video art, installations and every facet presented were interesting to my eyes...the most memorable one was of course Ryota Kuwakubo's Lost #12...the play with light and shadow; picture not here. My little companion, Nandu and I enjoyed it the most. We were in a kind of Alice in Wonderland where shadows shrink and grew with approaching and receding light. We went saying oooh and aahhh! The materials used for the shadow play was everything from glass to cloth pins to candles etc.

One of my dear college mate and her 3 lovely, charming  and vivacious girls were my companions but it was her eldest who accompanied me visiting the artists' and their art...

Life Loves Me!

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers

It's Paint Party Friday's fourth Anniversary and I am extremely glad that I am part of it. I have found some amazing friends through PPF and What Fantabulous treasure trove of talent it has been!!!

I wish the team many more years of colour and joy in partying with paint!!! Happy Anniversary PPF :) Dedicating this poem to all my PPF friends...

Life Loves Me!

Starlit nights or sun drenched days
I love the hues and shades
Sparrows, crows or Indian mynas
Kingfishers, robins or parrots
They all please me and please me well!

Gasping the fresh breath of air
Trees blanketed with flowers
Daisies, pansies and daffodils
Tulips, violets and carnations
I behold Spring and Spring beholds me!

Blessed with my family
Blessed with my friends
Blessed with my teachers
Who taught me the lessons of life
I love my life and life loves Me!

This is a poem I wrote a few years back and I share it now with mighty heart!!! Completely one with it and the feeling of life loving me is extremely strong at this point :) I hope the same for my PPF friends and all the friends around...

Eva and Kristin have asked us to post a self-portrait to celebrate the event. I have opted an easy way out :) These are a few digital trials of my 4 year old picture. Here's my self-portrait !!!

Small Town Paradise

Top post on IndiBlogger.in, the community of Indian Bloggers

Long nature walks is the best remedy to get rejuvenated...at the least one could take one's 'La Ponderosa II' for it :)... Since the last couple of months I have enjoyed a few short trips in my home town of Palakkad in Kerala. This was Quite an Unexpected Trip; it was to a mural camp held by Lalita Kala Akademi in Malampuzha, a tourist spot of our lovely town. Unfortunately I reached there at the closing time but was Lucky enough to attend a seminar, even if  for a short while, on Benode Behari Mukherjee - a well known pioneer of Indian Modern art. Though I had planned to pay a visit the next day to get the pictures of the camp, the art and the artists, I couldn't make it...a Big Loss!

As I emerged out, the sun was setting and it was painting the sky and the landscape in beautiful hues and shades... I couldn't resist from taking these pictures of the lovely transformations. Hope you like it too... :) The pictures are taken from my Lenovo K910L.
